Srinagar, J&K: The president of the Shiromani Akali Dal, Simranjeet Singh Mann, today said that the Sikh community endorsed the Hurriyat Conference stand and supported the view point of the Kashmiris on the long-standing issue. Mann today visited the Hurriyat (G) chairman, Syed Ali Shah Geelani at the SKIMS, and later met the JKLF chairman, Muhammad Yasin Malik.

Chandigarh, Punjab: The Centre should discontinue its practice of naming only retired Army generals or retired police chiefs as Governor of Punjab, says Simranjit Singh Mann, President of the Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar). Since the present incumbent, Gen SF Rodriguez (retd), has completed his conventional five-year term in office, Mann wants that he should be immediately replaced and Punjab should be spared the agony of another Governor from the forces. He was talking to The Tribune here today.
Sikh Panthic leaders criticise RSS chief

Amritsar, Punjab: Some of the panthic leaders joined SAD (A) chief Simranjit Singh Mann in strongly criticising the RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat for dreaming a Hindu Rashtra. Those present included Giani Gurbachan Singh Jathedar of the Akal Takht, Jathedar Iqbal Singh from Patna Sahib and Jathedar Balwant Singh Nandgarh from Talwandi Sabo.
