Delhi, India: The Delhi High Court on Tuesday refused an early hearing to Congress leader Sajjan Kumar, who had challenged a trial court order rejecting his anticipatory bail plea in connection with cases related to the 1984 anti-Sikh riots. Apprehending arrest, the former Union minister had approached the Delhi High Court against the trial court order. His counsel told a Bench of acting Chief Justice Madan B. Lokur and Justice Mukta Gupta that the matter was urgent as it was coming up for hearing on Wednesday.

Sri Akal Takht Sahib, Amritsar: Throne of the Almighty” In the Sikh religion, Sri Akal Takhat Sahib has a prerogative place. “Akal Takht” is a combination of two words: Akal (the Almighty) and Takht (Throne). Meaning thereby: the “Throne of the Almighty”. Sahib is used as a mark of respect for Guru Sahib and the Sikh institutions. Akal Takht Sahib represents the Sikh institution of Miri (temporal)-Piri (transcendental).
To curb Human trafficking, Punjab govt ready with new law
January 17th, 2010 Amandeep Kaur Chandigarh, Punjab: The Punjab government is all set to enact a law with the provision of jail, heavy fine and even cancellation of licences of defaulting travel agents to strike at the root of human trafficking. Under the new law, all travel agents will be required to be registered with the state authorities.

Prof Darshan Singh Ragi is in the panthic dock for using derogatory remarks on the Jeevan and Banee of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Sahib. The case is simple and straightforward. He narrated a story which is claimed appeared in Sri Dasam Granth. While performing keertan at a gurdwara in Rochester, NY, Prof Darshan Singh claimed that a story appears in Charitropakhyan where Guru Gobind Singh Sahib goes to a prostitute. The prostitute tries to lure him. Guru Sahib contemplates that if establishes relationship with the prostitute then the one who will be born out of that relationship will only be a pimp.
