Supreme Court advocate HS Phoolka, who is waging a legal battle for justice to the riot victims, stated this during a visit to Jalandhar today.

Delhi, India: Twenty-five years after the 1984 Sikh Genocide, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) today filed two separate chargesheets against former Congress MP Sajjan Kumar, blaming him for two of the “murders” 25 years ago. Twelve others – including Sajjan’s relative Balwan Khokkar – have also been charged for the crimes. The CBI has imposed charges under sections 302, 153-A, 109, 436, 295, 201, 396, 427, 436, 449 and 505 of the Indian Penal Code in its chargesheet filed in the Special CBI court of Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Kaveri Baweja here today.

Ludhiana, Punjab: The constitution of a commission by the president Delhi Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee, Paramjit Singh Sarna, to probe into the recent firing incident in the city has drawn criticism from Surjit Singh, Punjab president of Danga Peerat Welfare Society on Wednesday. He remarked that Sarna had not allowed them to organize an akhand path in the memory of the riot victims on the occasion of 25th anniversary of 1984 Anti-Sikh riots, but had went on to honour Sheila Dikshit, chief minister, Delhi.

Ludhiana, Punjab: The 1984 Genocide victims will gherao the Justice TS Doabia Commission, appointed by the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) to probe the incidents of violence due to the congregation of religious leader Ashutosh, during its visit to Ludhiana on December 19. The president of the DSGMC, Paramjit Singh Sarna, had appointed the commission for a probe into the police firing on protesting Sikhs on December 5.
