Akal Takht Sahib, Punjab: Sri Akal Takht Sahib literally means The Seat (Throne) of the Timeless One or Seat (Throne) of God. It is one of the five seats of temporal physical religious authority of the Sikhs. Akal means The Timeless One – another term for God. The Akal Takht was begun by the sixth Sikh Guru, Guru Har Gobind as a symbol for political sovereignty of Sikhs. It stood as a symbol of political and military resistance against the tyranny and cruelity of the rulers the 17th and 18th century. The Jathedar of the Akal Takht along with the Jathedars of the other four holy Takhts are the temporary temporal religious authority of the Sikhs. The current Jathedar of Akal Takht Sahib is Giani Gurbachan Singh.

Sri Amritsar, Punjab: In an event organised by ‘Sikh Jago Lehar’ at Guru Nanak Bhavan Sri Amritsar, Sikh scholars, theologians, and representatives of various Panthic organisations gathered to mark the release of epic book on the history of Sri Dasam Granth by Dr. Harbhajan Singh, Punjabi University Patiala. The first copy of the book was presented to the Head Granthi of Takhat Sri Hazoor Sahib, Giani Pratap Singh.

Amritsar, Punjab: Highest spiritual and temporal seat of the Sikhs, Sri Akal Takht Sahib, today declared its former Jathedar Professor Darshan Singh as ‘Tankhaiya’ (guilty of religious misconduct). The Sikh clergy, after a marathon meeting, issued an edict awarding the religious punishment to Darshan Singh who previously had been warned several times by Sri Akal Takht Sahib.

Prof Darshan Singh Ragi is in the panthic dock for using derogatory remarks on the Jeevan and Banee of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Sahib. The case is simple and straightforward. He narrated a story which is claimed appeared in Sri Dasam Granth. While performing keertan at a gurdwara in Rochester, NY, Prof Darshan Singh claimed that a story appears in Charitropakhyan where Guru Gobind Singh Sahib goes to a prostitute. The prostitute tries to lure him. Guru Sahib contemplates that if establishes relationship with the prostitute then the one who will be born out of that relationship will only be a pimp.

Jasvir Singh Patiala, Punjab: Nearly two dozen North American Sikh organizations and Gurdwaras openly called for strict action against the heretic Ragi Darshan Singh who was summoned to Sri Akal Takht Sahib for distorting and ridiculing the Bani of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji.
