Amritsar, Punjab: Ex-ragi Darshan has reiterated his stand that he will neither appear before the Singh Sahiban on January 7 nor will obey any “tankha” in the ongoing controversy on Dasham Granth. He alleged that politicalisation of religion was being done by the Badal family which would be most harmful for the Sikh quam. When asked about elections of the SGPC, ex-ragi Darshan said every Sikh obeying complete maryada of the panth should be allowed to participate in the elections and support Sarna Party.

Amritsar, Punjab: Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (HSGPC) leader Jagdish Singh Jhinda and his five associates-most of whom are also members of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC)- have been summoned at Akal Takht on September 19 by Jathedar Giani Gurbachan Singh and the high Sikh priests with direction to explain violation of the Sikh “Maryada” by them for “attack” on gurdwara in Kurukshetra .

Fremont, California: Giani Gurbachan Singh, Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib, who was here on a invitation of the committee of Fremont Gurdwara Sahib, received a warm welcome from the sangat. Fremont Sangat welcomed the Singh Sahib and asked him to take the initiative of leading the efforts to get released the Sikh youth languishing in jails since 1984.

Amritsar, Punjab: Some of the panthic leaders joined SAD (A) chief Simranjit Singh Mann in strongly criticising the RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat for dreaming a Hindu Rashtra. Those present included Giani Gurbachan Singh Jathedar of the Akal Takht, Jathedar Iqbal Singh from Patna Sahib and Jathedar Balwant Singh Nandgarh from Talwandi Sabo.
Work on annotative version of Guru Granth Sahib begins

Amritsar, Punjab: Foreign-based new generation of Sikhs and people from other religions having faith in Guru Granth Sahib will hardly have any problem in comprehending the meaning and message in the holy book as the SGPC has initiated work on preparing the first “authentic and widely-accepted” annotative version (Teeka) of Guru Granth Sahib.
