Statement by NDP leader on Bandi Chor Diwas – Video

Ontario, Canada: Official Opposition Leader Tom Mulcair made the following statement on the occasion of Diwali, Bandhi Chhor Divas and Deepavali:

“Today Canadians of Sikh, Hindu, Budhhist, Jain and Tamil origin will celebrate one of the most important holidays of the year – New Democrats wish you all a very happy holiday.

As families gather during this festive season, this holiday signifies an opportunity for the New Democrats to thank members of the community for their contribution to the social, economic and cultural diversity of our country.

Together, New Democrats join you as our partners, neighbours and friends of all religions and backgrounds as we celebrate our shared values of bringing light to darkness, recognizing the good in all and working for the upliftment of all Canadians – where no one is left behind.
