SGPC flays attack on gurdwaras in Greece

Amritsar, Punjab: The SGPC today strongly condemned the attack on gurdwaras in Greece. In a statement released here, SGPC president Avtar Singh Makkar said the Greece government must trace the miscreants involved in the attack and take strict action against them.

He said the incident had hurt the sentiments of Sikhs across the globe. He said the religious places always gave a message of peace and communal harmony, but communal forces always looked for an opportunity to disturb the peace.

Anandpur Sahib: Meanwhile, the restoration work on five forts built by Guru Gobind Singh was started by Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee here today. The restoration of the forts is part of a year-long celebration of the 350th anniversary of Anandpur Sahib, which was founded on June 19.

Sant Labh Singh has been handed over the kar sewa of Anandgarh Sahib Fort, while Sant Dilbagh Singh and Baba Sulakhar Singh have taken up kar sewa of Taragarh Fort. Baba Amrik Singh and Baba Joginder Singh Dumeliwale will restore Holgarh and Lohgarh Forts, respectively. Fort Fatehgarh Sahib will be restored by Baba Bachan Singh from Delhi.

SGPC president Avtar Singh Makkar said 15 nagar kirtan processions from different parts of the country would soon arrive in Anandpur Sahib.
