New York Sikhs demand feds’ involvement after alleged hit-run hate attack.

New York, USA: The Sikh community turned the heat up Tuesday on the NYPD to find the lead-footed bigot who ran down a Queens businessman with a pickup truck after yelling, “Go back to your own country, Bin Laden!”

Sandeep Singh, who somehow survived being knocked down and dragged 30 feet by the truck, said there was only one reason he was targeted.

“I was attacked because I am a Sikh and because I look like a Sikh,” Singh said in a statement. “Justice should be served so that no one else goes through what I have been through.”

Singh, who was run over July 30, is still recuperating at Jamaica Hospital for abdominal and back injuries as well as several abrasions.

Police said the Hate Crimes Task Force is already on the case and is canvassing auto body shops in the Richmond Hill and Ozone Park areas in search of the truck involved in the hit-and-run.

But the Sikh Coalition says it wants the feds involved because the group is not convinced the police department is doing enough.

“The NYPD needs to address the perception that it doesn’t care about Sikhs,” the coalition said in a statement. “The NYPD doesn’t allow turbaned Sikhs to serve in the police force. The same police force that is supposed to protect us is also discriminating against us.”

Singh, 29, was struck after he climbed out of a parked car and inadvertently blocked the path of the pickup, which was heading southbound on 99th St. in Queens, police said.
The irate driver began giving Singh an earful, called him a “terrorist,” and then bumped the Sikh with his truck, police said.

Then, as a startled Singh reeled, the driver hit the gas and then tore down 101st Ave., police said.

“Who drags anybody under their car and just leaves them to die?” asked Singh’s wife, 26-year-old Prabhpreet Kaur. “A human being does not do this to another human being. Only an animal does.”

Investigators say they believe the vehicle was a light-colored 2007-2009 GMC Sierra 1500 pick-up truck.

Sikhs are not Muslims like Osama Bin Laden, the mastermind of 9/11. But because they wear turbans, they’ve become the targets of numerous attacks by clueless goons since the terror attacks.

The violence culminated in an attack two years ago by a neo-Nazi on a Sikh Gurdwara in Wisconsin that left a half-dozen worshippers dead.

Just last year, a turban-wearing Columbia University professor was beaten up by a Harlem hate mob who pulled his beard and broke his jaw while screaming “Osama” and “terrorist.”
