Daily inspiration: Hunger exists throughout the world

New York,USA: Hunger exists throughout the world, knowing no racial or religious boundaries. As fellow human beings, we can help those less fortunate meet their most basic need of food. Adopting a simpler lifestyle is one way to contribute more resources for the hungry. Serving the poor, the needy and the hungry is a key principle of Sikhism as exemplified by Guru Nanak, the founder of Sikhism. The Langar Hall (community kitchen), instituted by Sikh Gurus in the 16th century, has been an integral part of the Gurdwara (Sikh place of worship). All are welcome to the Gurdwara to break bread together regardless of race, religion, caste, creed, color or gender. Sikh philosophy emphasizes simplicity, service and equality.
