UK team visits Guru Granth Sahib varsity

Fatehgarh Sahib, Punjab: To explore an academic tie-up, a delegation from Anglia Ruskin University, Cambridge (England) led by its deputy vice chancellor professor visited Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University (SGGSWU).

The delegation is here to discuss the possibility of collaboration with university and institutions of higher education of the SGPC.

Anglia Ruskin University has its campuses in Cambridge, Chelmsford and Peterborough in England and has collaborations with many universities internationally.

Gurmohan Singh Walia ,vicechancellor, Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University, represented SGPC educational institutions and discussed the various possibilities of collaboration.

Prof. Alan Sibbald said that there was quite a synergy between the mission and the courses run at the two universities. Anglia Ruskin University has well established teacher training programmes for the school teachers and it was agreed that the Anglia university will depute its faculty for the training of SGPC school teachers during summer vacations in addition to deputing the teachers from the UK university as visiting faculty at SGGSWU.

“Fruitful discussion were held regarding the various modes of collaborations between the two organizations like dual degree through twinning arrangements in accountancy, management and IT disciplines, students’ exchange programme, faculty exchange programme, research collaboration”, said Dr Walia.

He informed that the possibility of conducting joint conferences, workshops and seminars by the two universities was also on the agenda.

A broad consensus was reached at all points and it was decided that SGGSWU will send a draft of MOU to the UK University within a fortnight and a formal MOU will be signed after getting nod from U K University, he added.
