Ludhiana, Punjab: Sikh leaders Simranjit Singh Mann and Bhai Ranjit Singh has said that all Panthik groups will unitedly contest the next election for all the 170 seats of the Shiromani Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee (SGPC).
Addressing a press conference here today the SAD (Amritsar) president Mann and former Akal Takht Jathedar Bhai Ranjit Singh, who were accompanied by another Panthik leader Varinderjit Singh Dhanoula, said that the term of the present SGPC has already expired. They said that in view of this the outgoing SGPC executive body should not be allowed to make expenditures.
Sikh leaders blamed Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and his party has done the politicalisation of the Akal Takht which was the most sacred place of Sikhs. They said that all the panthik groups would now try to ensure that Badal and his party were not able to take the control of the SGPC. They termed Paramjit Singh Sarna, of the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee, as an agent of the Congress.
They alleged that the money of the SGPC had been illegally spent in the assembly byelections of Jalalabad.
