Amritsar, Punjab: Miri Piri Divas was celebrated at Sri Akal Takhat Sahib to remember the blessings of Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji, the sixth Sikh Guru. Sangat in considerable size was gathered at Sri Akal Takhat Sahib to take part in the religious ceremonies. Akhand Path sahib was concluded and kirtan was performed.
The appointed Sri Akal Takhat Sahib Jathedar, Giani Gurbachan Singh appealed to the Sikh Sangat asking them to adhere to the concept of ‘miri-piri. He said that Sikh Nation should stand up against the ills of drugs, apostasy, female infanticide and others.
At the same time, a nagar kirtan (procession) was also carried out from Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji’s birth place ‘Guru Ki Wadali’ to Sri Akal Takhat Sahib. Various eminent Kirtanis and dhadis took part in the celebrations and shared the life stories of Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji.
Various other Sikh religious personalities including Giani Mall Singh, Giani Jaswinder Singh, Giani Mann Singh, Giani Jagtar Singh and others were present at the program.
Sikh Sangat, especially youth, have much to learn from the life of the sixth Guru. It was Guru Hargobind Sahib who at a young age turned the Sikhs into a martial race and courageously stood up against Mughal oppression.
