Srinagar, J&K: The president of the Shiromani Akali Dal, Simranjeet Singh Mann, today said that the Sikh community endorsed the Hurriyat Conference stand and supported the view point of the Kashmiris on the long-standing issue. Mann today visited the Hurriyat (G) chairman, Syed Ali Shah Geelani at the SKIMS, and later met the JKLF chairman, Muhammad Yasin Malik.
The Akali leader assured Geelani that the minority community shared the pain and suffering of Kashmiris and totally support their legitimate demands.
He said that he would continue to support Kashmiris in their struggle for their rights. “Quiet diplomacy is a trap and whosoever falls in this trap will get eliminated from the political scene of Kashmir..
whether the person belongs to separatist camp or mainstream,” Mann told a meeting of intellectuals, religious and political leaders here.
Supporting restoration of pre-1953 status to Kashmir, Mann said the position should be restored before initiation of any talks aimed at resolution of Kashmir issue.
Mann’s delegation also met Malik and the chief of the Jamiat-e-Ahl-e-Hadees, Maulana Shaukat Ahmad Shah.Maulana Shah was understood have assured the Sikh leader that every religious organization in Kashmir deemed it its duty to safeguard the minority community.
