Jalandhar,Punjab: As Shiromani AKali Dal is using the issue of November 1984 Delhi massacre of Sikhs in Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Management Committee election, All India Sikh Students Federation (AISSF) has asked Punjab chief minster Parkash Singh Badal to move a resolution in the Punjab Vidhan Sabha to recognize November 1984 killing of Sikhs as “Genocide”.
“Since Punjab chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and Akali Dal President Sukhbir Singh Badalare once again using the issue of denial of justice and inadequate rehabilitation to the victims of November 1984 to garner votes in Delhi Gurudwara elections they have majority in Punjab and should move a Sikh Genocide Resolution in Vidhan Sabha,” said AISSF President Karnail Singh Peermohammad in a statement issued on Wednesday.
“The Akali Dal has used the issue of November 1984 to gain votes in every election since 1997 and after winning the elections always abandoned and ignored the issue but now we will demand accountability from SAD (Badal),” AISSF said while adding that now Badals were making very emotional appeals while invoking the name of Nov 1984 victims but they did little Punjab for their welfare.
Federation president said SAD (Badal) has number of members in the Parliament but none of them effectively raised the issue of denial of justice to the Sikh community or to move a resolution to at least give it the right terminology of “genocide” in place of misnomer of “riots”.
“When it comes to giving impunity to those who organized killing of Sikhs in Punjab SAD (Badal) follows the same policy as practiced by the Congress (I),” Federation President alleged.
