SAD Delhi chief meets Shah, seeks SIT probe into 1984 genocide

New Delhi: Picking up the thread from the Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal’s representation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi demanding an SIT probe into the 1984 Sikh genocide, the Delhi unit of Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) today met BJP president Amit Shah and reiterated the demand.

A delegation of the SAD led by its Delhi president Manjit Singh (GK) called on Shah and demanded a Supreme Court-monitored probe by the SIT.

Giving the details of his meeting with Shah, Manjit Singh said that the delegation also demanded action on FIRs registered related to the riots.

He said Shah assured him of calling a meeting of Sikh leaders soon to discuss a range of issues concerning the community.

Badal had recently met Modi as well as Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh and demanded the SIT probe.

He had alleged that the successive Congress-led governments at the Centre had stalled a demand for a full-fledged independent probe into the issues, including the role of Congress leaders and the government at the Centre.
