Missionaries challenge Sikh Scriptures, History and Traditions

Sikhism is a relatively new religion. It became an organized religion ever since Guru Gobind Singh ji created khalsa in 1699 and gave a code of conduct. He ordained Kirpan, Kes, Kanga, Kachhehra and Kara to be worn by Sikhs. He also prescribed five transgressions for sikhs namely not to cut hair, not eating meat slaughtered by halal, no extra marital affair and no use of tobacco.

He asked sikhs to recite five banis Jap ji Sahib, Jaap Sahib, Tav Parsed Swaiye, Chaupai Sahib and Anand Sahib in the morning everyday and two banis in the evening. Five morning banis are also read when a sikh is initiated as a Khalsa. Three of those are from Granth of Guru Gobind Singh ji, Dasam Granth. Sikh Ardas also comes from Dasam Granth sahib. Sikhs have been reciting this Ardas since 1679 AD as tablets have been found at “Kapal Mochan” of same ardas which were awarded to a priest of a Temple as Tamar patra by Guru ji himself (See image above this article). This Ardas pauri was also inscribed on southern gate of Harmandir Sahib when golden gilding was done by Maharaja Ranjit Singh in the early 1800s.

Missionary schools that cropped around 1990s are the ones who denounce the bani of the tenth master. Though they sport five kakkars but name call Bani of the creator of the Khalsa. It seems like they are taught in their two years curriculum not to accept Sri Dasam Granth Sahib. This led to several of them being excommunicated from Khalsa Panth. Bhag Singh Ambala, Gurbaksh Singh Kala Afghana, Joginder Singh Spokesman and Ragi Darshan Singh have been excommunicated for their blasphemous utterances towards gurbani.

Missionary kathakars like Sarbjit Dhundha, Panthpreet Singh (Ramesh Kumar) are called for visit to USA and Canada by their sponsors. Their sermons mainly are hate speeches against Bani of Dasam pita, Sikh traditions, and history. They use derogatory language for divine souls such as Baba Attar singh ji Mastuanewale, Baba Gurbachan singh ji, Baba Nand Singh ji, Bhai Randhir Singh Ji and many other Gursikhs. They do not even spare Bhai Veer singh ji who is a very well known Sikh personality from the 19th century.

This created discord among local sangat and there were wide spread protests against Sarbjit Dhundha during his visit in April 2016. He performed katha under police protection. His trip created division among once united Sikh Sangat of California.

Followers of Ragi Darshan Singh have gone a step further and did so called Amrit Sanchar with two banis instead of five as they did not read tenth master’s banis. They did this in Virginia in April 2016.They  changed the sikh ardas also. It is a matter of time when missionaries will join their band wagon. In all effect they have parted way with sikhism and started their own sect. Sikhs would wake up and not encourage these elements anymore.
