Sangrur, Punjab: The Sehajdhari Sikh Party, headed by Dr Paramjit Singh Ranu, today extended its support to the Sanjha Morcha, comprising the People’s Party of Punjab (PPP), SAD (Longowal), the CPI and the CPM, for the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections.
An announcement to this effect was made by Dr Ranu at a public meeting of the SAD (Longowal), held at the residence of party general secretary Gaganjit Singh Barnala at Dhuri. The meeting was convened to mobilise party workers for the ensuing elections. The meeting was attended among others by patron of the Sanjha Morcha Surjit Singh Barnala, president of SAD (Longowal) Surjit Kaur Barnala, secretary general of SAD (Longowal) Baldev Singh Mann, former Chief Parliamentary Secretary and former SAD MLA Surinder Singh Dhuri, Dr Paramjit Singh Ranu and Gaganjit Singh Barnala.
Wanted ex-MLA at meeting:
Interestingly, Surinder Singh Dhuri, who attended the meeting, is wanted in a case registered against him on December 5 under the Excise Act at Dhuri. His anticipatory bail application was dismissed in the case a few days ago by a Sangrur court.
Dhuri DSP Krishan Kumar Panthey said they had no information that Dhuri had attended the meeting.
