Hoshiarpur, Punjab: Dal Khalsa has asked the Punjab government to make public the report submitted to it by former DGP (prisons) Shashi Kant on narcotic smuggling.
Speaking at an awareness rally organised by the youth wing ‘Sikh Youth of Punjab’ in Hariana on Saturday, he said the government was shying away from disclosing the report as it had pinpointed the role of politicians and police in drug smuggling. He said that the retired DGP himself should come forward and reveal the names of those persons who had made state a hub of drugs.
“We believe that it is part of a design to engage the Punjabi youth in drugs to mar their political consciousness and to counter the fighting spirit in them,” said Dhami.
He also blamed central government for failing to check cross border smuggling of the contraband. The youth organisation took out a motorcycle rally from Hariana to Dasuya to create awareness amongst the youth against drug menace, apostasy, criminalisation of politics, vulgarity in songs and sexual violence against women. President Ranbir Singh said that such programmes would continue in future also.
