Anandpur Sahib, Punjab: Congress candidate from Anandpur Sahib Lok Sabha seat Ravneet Singh Bittu on Sunday sought to score over the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) on the occasion of Hola Mohalla by performing sewa by cleaning shoes of devotees at Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib here on Sunday.
Bittu said he had come here to perform sewa as a humble Sikh, adding that it had given him great spiritual satisfaction.
The Congress had cancelled its Hola Mohalla political conference a couple of days ago, citing directions of the Election Commission (EC). Bittu thanked the EC for banning the Shiromani Akali Dal’s conference on the occasion. “It is a victory of truth and democracy,” Bittu said. He added that Akalis had always misused devotees’ money offered in gurdwaras on organising their political rallies and for other political purposes.
Bittu also took exception to CM Parkash Singh Badal’s criticism of the EC order.
