Amritsar, Punjab: The ‘Akal Purkh ki Fauj’, a social-cum-religious group, on Saturday held a blood donation camp near Gurdwara Ramsar here and appealed for peace and communal harmony.
‘Akal Purkh ki Fauj’ patron Jaswinder Singh said, “The idea behind holding the camp is to send a message that instead of spilling blood we must join hands to donate blood and save lives. Gurdwaras are places of worship and not places for shedding blood”.
He was apparently referring to the clash between Sikh radicals and the task force of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee outside the Akal Takht in the Golden Temple complex during the 30th anniversary of the Operation Bluestar on Friday, wherein 12 people were injured.
Around 120 persons donated blood in the camp.
