Neeta Mohindra’s works on Sikh women to be displayed at Lalit Kala gallery

Chandigarh. Artiste Neeta Mohindra has taken a unique initiative of exhibiting works on Sikh women at Lalit Kala gallery sector 16 from October 18 to October 21.Mohindra said she has imbibed the art work related to important women in Sikh history about which large number of people are unaware of. She has traced the lives of women related to the ten Gurus including Mata Tripta Ji, Bibi Sulakhni Ji, Bibi Bhanii Ji, Mata Khiwi, Mai Bhago and others. She has also included Rani Sada Kaur, the mother-in-law of great Sikh emperor Maharaja Ranjit Singh.

It is pertinent to mention here that Neeta has exhibited this collection of works at the Lalit Kala Academy, Delhi too. Neeta’s works are reflection of her dint hard work, research on each character and the historical documents she went through to give her characters final shape.

“When I came to know that there are no pictures of the great women, who played major role in shaping the Sikh history in world, I decided it was high time they be given their due identity,” she said.
