San Francisco,USA:According to a news report a gallery featuring Sikh history through pictures and artifacts is currently at display at the Asian Art Museum of San Francisco, located on 200 Larkin Street. Along with featuring a separate section just on Sikh history and the Sikh Kingdom, the museum also displays history of other faiths and ethnicities including Buddhism, Hinduism, Japanese and Jainism.
The museum exhibits various pictures donated by the Kapany Gallery of Sikh Art (Sikh Foundation). As per SikhFoundation’s website, the Sikh art objects currently on display were donated by Dr. Narinder Singh Kapany in 1999.
The website claims that “Gallery is the only permanent collection of Sikh Art in a North American museum. Because many of the objects date from the 18th and 19th centuries and are sensitive to light, they can only be displayed for short periods of time. As a result, the contents of the Sikh Arts Gallery change approximately every six months.”
