Faridkot, Punjab: Several residents from nearby villages, on Saturday, paid obeisance to the two victims of police firing on the spots where they fell to the bullets fired by the police on October 14 on the crowd protesting against the desecration of Guru Granth Sahib in Bargari village.
The residents encircled the two spots where victims Gurjeet Singh from Sarawan village and Krishan Bhagwan Singh from Behbal Khurd village were standing and surrounded them to pay obeisance.
Gurjeet was standing on the right side of the road leading towards Behbal Kalan village from the Kotkapura-Bargari road, while Krishan Bhagwan was standing on the left side of the road, according to the encircled spots.
Residents of the nearby villages, who thronged the place in large numbers, were seen paying obeisance at the earmarked places.
Meanwhile, the religious organisations have decided to set up a memorial in the name of the two victims at the place of firing. Kheta Singh, a representative of Baba Bachan Singh from Delhi, said that his organisation would be setting up a memorial at the place.
Representatives of the Nanaksar samparda held a ‘bhog’ at Sarawan village. Samparda representative Baba Lakha Singh Nanaksar Kaleran Wale and Baba Inderpal Singh Nanaksar Devi Wala were present at the ‘bhog’. They announced to set up a stadium and hospital in Sarawan village in the memory of victims.
Inderpal Singh said that since the two victims were from the Nanaksar samparda, their families had approached them to hold ‘bhog’ for the victims. Both families decided to hold ‘bhog’ on Saturday. The families of both the victims were present in the ceremony.
