Amritsar, Punjab: The upper portion of the ` 78-crore plaza coming up outside the Golden Temple will be ready for opening by October.
Tourism minister Sohan Singh Thandal claimed it on Wednesday after his visit to the spot. After taking stock of many other tourist projects here, he directed the officials concerned to not only complete these in time but also put up signs for tourists and ensure cleanliness around the sites.
The minister inspected how the auditorium, waiting area, internet café, railway- and airticket booking offices, tourist information centre were coming up at the plaza. Officials told him the upper section was almost complete, while interiors would be completed by next year.
Thandal also visited New Municipal Complex coming up for ` 24 crore, besides the work on ` 21-crore parking lot at Attari, Maharaja Ranjit Singh Panorama, and Shaheedi-wala Bohr. During visit to Amritsar Central Jail, he took feedback from with the inmates and inspected sanition and food. He also visited the new jail coming up at Fatehpur for ` 132 crore. “The work is 30% done,” he observed.
