New Delhi: A day after British Foreign secretary William Hague told the British Parliament that a Special Services adviser was sent to New Delhi to offer military advice to the Indira Gandhi Government on Operation Bluestar, the Akali Dal-BJP alliance today demanded answers from the Central Government, asking it to come clean.
Lodging a protest inside and outside Parliament, Akali MPs led by Harsimrat Kaur Badal demanded that the role of the British Government in the Army action be disclosed. BJP’s Rajya Sabha member Avinash Rai Khanna joined the protest outside the main gate of Parliament.
Veteran AkaIi leaders Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa and Naresh Gujral, both Rajya Sabha members, carried placards reading, “Shame, Shame”. Earlier in the day, the Akali-BJP members stormed proceedings in the Lok Sabha, demanding full disclosure of the communication between then PM Indira Gandhi and Britain on Operation Bluestar and a day-to-day hearing of riot cases against Congress leaders Sajjan Kumar and Jagdish Tytler.
