Fatehgarh Sahib, Punjab: Shaheedi Jor Mela will commence from December 25 and last up to December 27. The fair, organised on an annual basis, is especially organised to commemorate the sacrifices made by Guru Gobind Singh. This was announced by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Arun Sekhri, while presiding over a meeting of the officials constituted to make provisions for the occasion, here today.
Scores of devotees are expected to pay obeisance to younger sahibzadas from all over the country and abroad. The Administration will make adequate security and traffic arrangements as well, said the DC.
The DC said there would be a complete ban on the plying of swings, circus, skill games, amusement games, gambling stalls and sale of intoxicants, besides meat, fish and other non-vegetarian shops, stalls, have also been banned and will not operate in the area surrounding Gurudwara Sahib.
Carrying of weapons and playing music loudspeakers have also been banned on langar stalls.
The DC said an impressive exhibition showcasing various achievements of the state government in different fields and public-oriented schemes would be organised, besides a light and sound programne.“The basic civic amenities such as toilets, drinking water, and cleanliness would be ensured and five enquiry centres and dispensaries will work round-the-clock on the occasion,” said Sekhri. As many as 25 free-of-cost mini buses will be pressed into service to ferry the senior citizens.
