5 Sikhs Who Made a Difference in 2013

Bhai Gurbaksh Singh Khalsa’s morcha became a success after 44 days when 4 Singhs were released from jail. The morcha united Sikhs in need of unity at a critical time in Sikh History. The slogan “Jabar Da Mukabla, Sabar Nal” was accepted by all and peaceful protests put pressure on the Govt to release Sikh Political Prisoners. Bhai Gurbaksh Singh Khalsa proved he can be an effective and trusted leader.

MPP Jagmeet Singh is a Member of Provincial Parliament representing Bramalea Gore Malton of Ontario, Canada. Jagmeet Singh became a star of the Sikh Diaspora around the world after his outstanding speeches in the Ontario Provincial Parliament. Jagmeet Singh was successful in achieving a resolution recognizing Bhai Jaswant Singh Khalra as a Human rights defender and declaring April as Sikh Heritage month in Parliament. Jagmeet Singh might be a politician from Canada but he is loved by Sikhs all over the world.

Jarnail Singh is famous for the shoe protest on congress leader Chidambaram which sparked a movement among Sikhs to unite and seek punishment against those involved in the 1984 Sikh Genocide. Jarnail Singh has been doing active work in Madhya Pradesh helping non sikhs come into Sikhi. There has been a rising amount of interest among the “low caste” people of certain villages to become Sikh. So far, hundreds of people from the state have become Sikh and there is a major movement developing in neighboring villages also. Jarnail Singh has been very active in leading protests in Delhi to seek justice for victims of the 1984 Sikh Genocide.

Jagraj Singh is the founder of Basics of Sikhi which is spreading awareness of Sikhi in English through easy to follow videos on Youtube. The Sikhi Parchar in english has had a great amount of interest from non-punjabi speaking people. Many people are now understanding concepts of Sikhi which they otherwise wouldn’t have understood. The videos have been extremely successful and the Charity has grown tremendously. Many people from around the world are helping Basics of Sikhi grow and to help spread the message of Guru Nanak Dev Ji. The videos have had a great amount of Success among the Sikh Youth who’ve grown up outside India and aren’t well versed in the Punjabi language. Jagraj Singh has done what the Panth desperately needed which is parchar not only in Gurudwaras but outside of Gurudwaras also.

Jyotveer Singh is the founder of Facebook for Healthcare called Anoncare. Anoncare is an innovative new way to share health experiences and a platform to discuss similar conditions with not only people with similar conditions but with healthcare professionals also. Many people often want to share thoughts with people in the same boat as them but are unable to reach out to them.
