Sikh Holy books packed in used cartons seized, 4 booked

Amritsar Punjab: In a case of mishandling of Sikh holy books, the Sri Guru Granth Sahib Satkar committee today seized Sikh scriptures packed in discarded cartons of cold drinks, mineral water and biscuits at the Amritsar railway station.

The boxes were lying at the railway platform. The persons accompanying the consignment managed to flee after spotting the committee members, led by Balbir Singh Muchhal.

The General Railway Police (GRP) has registered a case against Baljinder Pal Singh, Harmeet Singh, Prabhjit Singh and Rabjit Singh.

The consignment comprising 11 boxes consisted of 15 “sainchis” (sets) of Guru Granth Sahib in Punjabi, 12 “sainchis” in Hindi, 100 “nitnem gutkas” in Punjabi and an equal number of “nitnem gutkas” in Hindi.
