Amritsar, Punjab: Big Haul was meant to be supplied to villages to make illicit liquor, say police; two suspects flee. The city police seized more than 20,000 litres of pure alcohol on Saturday. The alcohol was stashed in huge water tankers.
The containers were stored in a shed on the outskirts of Mudhal village in Amritsar. The alcohol was reportedly to be supplied to various villages to manufacture illicit liquor.
A raid, conducted by the Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) recovered not only raw alcohol, but also the material used to manufacture liquor.
The two suspects, Lovepreet and Tarsem, managed to escape from the spot.
Inspector in-charge said, “We had a tip off that huge quantity of alcohol was stored in a shed in Mudhal village. A raid was conducted and the consignment was seized. Investigations suggest that the alcohol was to be supplied to various villages to prepare liquor. We are working on the case. Efforts are on to ascertain of the modus operandi and the mastermind behind the crime.“
