Will not accept any move to divide Sikhs, says Dhindsa

Sangrur, Punjab: Slamming the Cong ress gover nment in Haryana for passing a bill in the state assembly for the formation of a separate gurdwara management committee (HSGMC), SAD general secretary and Rajya Sabha member Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa said, on Saturday, that no move of dividing the Sikhs will be accepted.

Talking to mediapersons here after holding a meeting of Akali leaders and workers at Nankana Sahib, Dhindsa said, “Sikhs of the country had made several sacrifices for the formation of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), how can we see its division now?” “All the Sikhs are supporting us and we will continue our efforts against the forces that want to divide the Sikhs,” he added.

Earlier, addressing leaders and workers of the party, Dhindsa appealed to them to celebrate the martyrdom day of Sant Harchand Singh Longowal, who had signed the Punjab accord with then prime minister Rajiv Gandhi on July 24, 1985 and was gunned down by militants on August 20, 1985.
