London, UK: The Sikh Organization for Prisoner Welfare (SOPW) has continued to raise concern over the lack of medical treatment for Bhai Jagtar Singh Hawara. Bhai Hawara is suffering from immense pain in his back and is currently confined to a wheel chair. In a press note, the SOPW stated that, “The treatment handed out to Sikhs imprisoned for alleged offences against the State in any of India’s jails, meets with no standards at all.
”It is noteworthy that Bhai Jagtar Singh Hawara has suffered immense torture in many years spent in prison. His current situation is directly related to how police officials have treated him over the “Worldwide pressure is mounting on the authorities to do the right thing, by India’s own rules and conventions and to ensure that Jagtar Singh receives the correct medical treatment before his situation worsens,” stated SOPW.
SOPW also raised concerns over fear that Bhai Jagtar Singh Hawara might be forced to face the same situation as Prof. Davinderpal Singh Bhullar who has also suffered immense physical and mental torture. Sikh Organization For Prisoner Welfare asked Sikhs living Worldwide to do ardas for their brothers and sisters languishing in jails across India.
