SGPC takes over Jandalisar gurdwara

Bathinda, Punjab: After the arrest of Baba Baljit Singh Daduwal and his supporters, the SGPC has taken over control of the Jandalisar gurdwara in Kotshamir village. Led by Amrik Singh, SGPC member from Kotshamir, a large number of SGPC workers are staying inside the gurdwara while a posse of policemen stand guard outside, allowing none to enter the shrine.

The name and telephone number of Baba Daduwal on boards installed outside the gurdwara have been erased with a coat of paint.

Amrik Singh denied the SGPC had taken over the gurdwara. “We have begun sewa at the gurdwara in the absence of the granthi (priest). A committee, to be formed in a day or two, will decide if the gurdwara charge should be handed over to Daduwal after his release from jail,” he said.

Baba Daduwal had led HSGMC supporters to successfully wrest control of the historic Guhla Cheeka gurdwara in Haryana which was with the SGPC.
