SGPC resents deletion of pilgrim names

Amritsar, Punjab: The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbadhik Committee (SGPC) has resented the deletion of 385 names from the list of pilgrims sent to the Pakistan high commission and the Union home ministry for issuance of visas for pilgrimage to gurdwaras in Pakistan on the occasion of Baisakhi.

A release issued by SGPC secretary (dharam prachar) Roop Singh said the home ministry had deleted 184 names from the SGPC list, while another 201 pilgrims had not been issued visas by the Pakistan high commission in New Delhi.

The SGPC sends the list of pilgrims along with their visas to the home ministry, and after the clearance from the ministry, the list along with the passports is forwarded to the Pakistan high commission for issuance of visas.

The SGPC jatha of pilgrims is scheduled to leave for Pakistan on April 10. It will visit historical shrines, including Nankana Sahib and Panja Sahib.
