Delhi Sikhs seek commitment from parties for implementation of RTI Act in Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Committee

Jalandhar,Punjab: Prominent Sikhs of Delhi, under the aegis of Gurudwara Sudhar Lehar, have written to heads of various parties contesting DSGMC election asking them to make specific promises of implementing RTI Act in the Management Committee apart from taking other steps for ensuring transparency in its affairs.

The letter has been sent on behalf of former PGI director Dr Jaswant Singh Neki, senior Supreme court advocate H S Phoolka, former diplomat K C Singh, former CBI director Joginder Singh and some other prominent Sikh personalities.

They have asked these groups to promise publicly that only Sikh scholars and experts would be appointed as chairmen of DSGMC run schools and colleges and not necessarily the members of the DSGMC.

The other important commitment sought from the contesting parties include ; The accounts of the Committee would be posted on its website every month, important resolutions of executive committee and general body would be put on website in a week and any Sikh could take copy of the decision of the committee as RTI Act would be completely implemented in its affairs.

“We also appeal to the Sikhs that vote for only those parties and candidates who make these commitments or otherwise reject them,” the gurudwara Sudhar Lehar said.
