UK sikhs arrive for Guru Nanak Yatra

Lahore,Pak: Some two hundred Sikh yatrees from the UK arrived here at the Allama Iqbal International Airport on Wednesday to take part in the 576th birth celebrations of Baba Guru Nanak Dev Gee to be held between Nov 26 and 28 at Gurdwara Janamasthan Nankana Sahib.

The first Sikh yatrees group (jatha), led by Sardar Autar Singh Sanghera, was received by the Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB) officials at the airport. Some four thousand Sikh yatrees (3000 from India and 1000 from other parts of the world) are expected to take part in the celebration this year.

The Sikh yatrees will also visit other places to perform religious rites during their sojourn in Pakistan, including Panja Sahib (Hassan Abdal), Gurdwara Dera Sahib (Lahore), Gurdwara Rohri Sahib (Hassan Abdal) and Gurdwara Darbar Sahib (Kartar Pur).

The yatrees would return on December 4.

Talking to the media, Sardar Autar Singh expressed the desire that Pakistan and India should settle all outstanding issues through dialogue.

He expressed his earnest regards for love and hospitality of Pakistanis during their yatra over the years.
