Mental health workshop concentrates on Sikh community

London,UK: Health bosses from the South Essex Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust (SEPT) held a summit looking at ways to address depression within the Sikh community.

The event at the Guru Nanak Gurdwara in Ford End Road, Queens Park, included numerous members of the Sikh community.

SEPT executive director Richard Winter, said: “This workshop for the Sikh Community has been an excellent continuation of the work we are doing in helping to raise awareness within different faith communities about mental health.

“It is well documented that one in four people will be affected by a Mental Health condition within their lifetime and so we need people, from whatever background, belief or culture to not only be aware of this but also to be able to openly seek help and support.”

SEPT plans to hold similar events for other faith communities in future.
