London, UK: Three people have been arrested in connection with the murder of a Sikh man of Punjabi origin who was stabbed to death while trying to stop two muggers who had snatched a woman’s handbag in Barking, east London, on Friday, British police said.
Sukhwinder Singh, father of one, was attacked around 7 p.m. while pursuing the pair who had robbed the 28-year-old woman near Barking station. Singh caught up with them after a hot chase but in the subsequent fight he was stabbed, the Metropolitan Police said.
The 31-year-old builder, who had been living in Britain for 10 years, was immediately taken to the Royal London Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
A spokesman for the Metropolitan Police, which hailed Singh as a “hero” for his “brave” actions, said the trio were arrested Wednesday from east London.
