New York, USA: Two weeks back a meeting was held at Gurudwara Richmond Hill, New York to take stock of situation of Ludhiana events in Punjab. This meeting was called by a few organizations of Sikh Cultural Society and Tri State.The agenda was hijacked for showing support for tankhaiya Darshan Singh Ragi. It was observed that many Gurudwara representatives of Tri State did not attend this meeting.
Some speakers stated that Darshan singh ragi had gone to Akal Takhat and wanted to give his view point in front of sangat but Jathedars wanted to hear him in a room. They supported Darshan singh for his stand against Akal Takhat. However Master Mohinder Singh ex-president of Gurudwara Makhan Shah Lubana said that Akal Takhat is supreme seat of authority for Sikhs and its Jathedar is considered as Pope of Sikhs. Every effort should be made to maintain maryada of Akal Takhat.
Missionary Jasbir Singh used this opportunity to spew venom against Bani of Guru gobind Singh ji and demonstrated typical trait of so called missionaries. Tehal singh supported Ragi and used derogatory language aginst Akal takhat.
Ex-president of Sikh cultural society Avtar Singh Pannu said that if Ragi Darshan singh had gone to akal takhat he should have presented himself in front of jathedars. If he did not want to do this he should not have not gone there. Homage was also paid to shaheed Darshan Singh of Ludhiana firing. Slogans were raised against Badal Akali Dal.
Many speakers who spoke were Tehal Singh, President Sikh Cultural Society, Resham Singh missionary (Indiana), Missionary Jasvir singh of Ropar college, Gurcharan singh Granthi of connecticut, Manmohan Singh, Inderjit Singh Dhaliwal, Balbir singh New Jersey, Maninder Singh, Hardayal Singh Johal, Tejinder Singh, Prtipal Singh of Sikh Youth of America, Dharam singh Missionary, Sukhwinder Singh, Paramjit Singh, Gurmeet Singh Rana of Sikh Youth of America, Surjit Singh and Karnail Singh.
Sarbjit singh spoke against Akal takhat whereas his parent organization Guru Gobind singh Study circle did not endorse his stand.
It is worth to mention here througuout this meeting there were noises of heated arguments coming from office of Sikh Cultural Society. This showed that there were people there who were opposing this meeting. They responded with their displeasure very next day by pasting gurudwara all over by Akal Takhat Hukamnama declaring Ragi darshan singh as tankhaiya. When some from management tried to remove these posters a fight erupted and some were thrashed during this fight.Committee had to give an undertaking to sangat that no such meetings against akal takhat would be held in future.

Clinging to a Distict Identity is the norm for first and second generation migrants. 3rd generation of migrants will assimilate to a very large extent:- i wish you good luck in teaching the people of the world about the Most Modern Religion in the world – Sikhism. It is not the fight of thoughts of Guru’s its is just a power play. every one wants to hold the position. Why so many missinaries and groups… just to be in power after letting down by means of religion…

Kewal singh should not be ven called a jathedar.He was involved in killing his daughter-in-law. Manjit singh was involved in money grabbing.

No body is ready to hear truth and only a few people know the facts.How many know the sikh rahit maryada and maryada of Akal Takht Sahib. It is Takhat of Akal, not of any Jathedar.There is no provision of any jathedar in marayada of Akal Takht Sahib any where.Real tankhahias are those, who go away the teachings of guru sahiban and following brahmanical customs in the form of sikhs. I don’t see any news on the latest update that you mentioned that few Sikh gathered and submit the clarification on the behalf of Darshan’s clarification to Akal Takht Jathedar Sahib? What is the source?
Let say if above is true then it is very shameful thing to do. Once you get called from Akal Takht Sahib, you have to go there in person not a 3rd party to represent him/her. This is the huge slap on the maryada on the Maryada of Akal Takht Sahib. What’s next, lawyers representing their clients in front of Akal Takht Sahib. Clever & Decisive way to avoid the punishment and humiliation.
Darshan Singh case is dirty and he should present himself at the door of Akal Takht Sahib with humble heart not with full of EGO.

It was very positive and the encouraging step for Sikhs that ‘Panj Piaras’ comprising former Jathedars of Takhts and granthis, Giani Joginder Singh Vedanti, Giani Kewal Singh, Prof Manjit Singh, Giani Charan Singh and Giani Narinder Singh submit Darshan Singh’s clarification on his controversial remarks to Jathedar, Akal Takht, Giani Gurbachan Singh on 25 December 2009 to avoid any friction in and or division of Sikhs and for the permanent solution of the issues of the community which must be sorted out by forming a religious panel.
Whoever was participating in burning effigies etc due to factionalism and divides Sikhs, was worthy to be called a Sikh?
Was it not the behaviour of all politically motivated Sikhs, divided on the lines of factionalism within Sikhs at the instance of anti-Sikh forces or of their own reasons?

All Sikhs should respect the decision of Akal Takht.
Although I 100% support the Panthic faisla – decision, I think it is dangerous to compare the Sevadar(jathedar) of Akal Takath as the ‘Pope’ of the Sikhs.
